Default nationwide COT - 11-06-2009 , 03:12 PM

looking at pics of the nationwide COT and the cars at least look
mildly similar to the actual cars they represent, although that is
mainly due to the noses on them. looking at the pictures, it appears
that the challenger may have an aero disadvantage because of the
recessed grill, no? the mustang looks like it has one but it is simply
the decals on the flat nose.

In theory, NASCAR has done tunnel testing and made adjustments in
various places to balance that out.

In practice, NASCAR's recent history with aero testing doesn't
speak very highly of their skill at it.

The new Nationwide car is going to be used in four races next season,
starting in July at Daytona and then in August at Michigan, in
September at Richmond and October in Charlotte.

i don't know why chevy didn't come out with the camaro. It would've
resonated well with fans, and left toyota as the only one not running
a "muscle car" - as they don't have one.

You would think that looking at it, but I guess they have had to meet the
same aero specs?

I wonder if Dodge sees any technical advantage in it too. Maybe they think a
low pressure pocket there will give more downforce or something like that.

Addled reasoning in their marketing department, I think. I seem
to recall a spokesdude saying the Camaro generated ample demand
(for the limited production planned) without any promotion, whereas
the Impala sales would (in their opinion) be benefitted by the
exposure.

Incidently, I saw a new Camaro on the street the other day. Ugly
car, especially from the rear 3/4 angle. It looks much better in
pictures.

(and, in a doesn't happen every day incident, when I took my F150
into the Ford dealer for an oil change yesterday, a guy brought
a GT in for service. Wow, what a sound....Ford got that one right)

The Challenger is a good looking car. The Camaro ended up kinda
fat in the ass. GM would have done a better job if they'd made
it more retro, but their stying chief (the guy who's responsible
for all those wedgy angular Cadillacs) hates retro.

Still like to own one, though..
Damn sight more attainable than the Ford GT, which is what
I'd like to own.
