NBC coverage = substitute teachers -

I dread the mid-season transition from FOX to NBC and here's why:
"Green flag begins the race and we are underway, the field is going
into turn one, let's go to commercial."
NBC camera man is the last person to know when cautions come out.
Commentators take us "Through the Field" as smoothly as a three-legged
race. Really, this feature is as poorly produced as Hanna-Barbara
cartoons from the '70s.
Commentators voices are gay, corny, and irritating, especially when
they address one another. Alan?
God bless BP, but he's futher out to pasture than John Madden. At lap
13 of the Daytona 500, he was like, "Of course they're racing hard,
there's only 13 laps to go!"
IMO, Speed Channel's dirt track cast is better than NBC's Cup coverage.
Speed is way more natural, where as the NBC guys have a plastic
anti-septic vibe and that totally doesn't suit NASCAR.
I'm open to other points of view (and maybe I'm missing NBC's strong
points), but damn they make a race hard to watch with the volume on. |
