CRU: Seems to me Ryan didn't sugarcoat anything, including morals. He just has to feel he has a new lease on life with ridding himself of Rusty Wallace & hope for Kurt Busch. -- Crusader |

Newman anticipates teaming with Busch "We never depended on the other teams -- we depended on ourselves," "I've always said it's a conflict of interest when you're helping somebody you're competing against. nobody complains about that except NASCAR." "It's something we'll have to work on, but in this sport, you don't want to be dependent on anybody else other than your own team," Newman said. |

I'm sure Rusty still had a couple years left in him. I rooted for Ryan when he first entered being a, close enough to, hometown boy, but root against him more, than for, lately. Wonder if we will ever get to the bottom of the real problems between them. |

Newman anticipates teaming with Busch By Dave Rodman, NASCAR.COM January 10, 2006 "I look forward to Kurt and the entire team," Newman said. "We never depended on the other teams -- we depended on ourselves," "Hopefully we'll have all the right morals and those things so when time passes we're still on the same page. |

Yep.... but that could very well become the case again with Kurt Busch becoming the new teammate / sparring partner. |

"I've [Ryan Newman] always said it's a conflict of interest when you're helping somebody you're competing against. Seems to me he's Rusty Jr! Maybe so but he is absolutely right. A team has a sponsor or sponsors to look out for. A driver has his own fame to look out for, not to mention the prize money. Both drivers may work for the same owner so he wins either way but a driver isn't only driving for the owner. I don't recall Kyle giving Kurt an inch when they were neck and neck just because he is the "little brother." If I were your sponsor I wouldn't be too happy if I found out you were helping another driver to win. I want my car crossing the S/F line first, not the guy you helped. In this case, in my opinion, Rusty's me, me, me, is right, right, right. In any competition you never give the other guy the edge. When you and your best friends are playing friendly [low stakes] poker do you do or say anything that will help them beat you? Probably not. So why then should you do it in your job? Can you tell I have strong feelings about this? :-) |
