Default No caution?? - 03-26-2006 , 07:14 PM

Lets see if we can keep the drama down. OK first off I'm
a 24 guy. I have a question....When 24 got spun shouldnt
the caution have come out and froze the field??
Listening to the JG scanner bytes that was the first
question asked by JG. Seems to happen on other
wrecks....

Thanks

Leader had already crossed the finish line, race was over.

Gordon's wreck with Kenseth was on the final lap, and Busch had not yet
crossed the finish line.

I thought that Harvick expected a caution - he was right up to Busch's
bumper, Gordon spun, and it appeared Harvick backed off at that point.

No caution really hurt Gordon in the points - maybe he's not the golden boy
anymore?

There's been other times there's been wrecks on the final lap and they
didn't wave the caution. One of the fall Talladega races comes to mind,
when Gordon and Kahne got into it on the back straight.

They are few and far between these days, since they changed the rules of
racing back to the caution. Gordon's spin came in the front of the pack,
top 10, so there were plenty of cars behind him. had Gordon been at the
back of the pack when he wrecked on the last lap, it would make sense not to
throw the caution.

Granted, I'm glad they didn't throw it - I hate it when there's a wreck in
the middle of the last lap and they stop the race.

Looks like it cost the 24 car 65 points for that spin. I
dont know about the golden part. That would have been
his fifth 10 ten and 3rd top 5, so I can see why he was
just a bit perturbed.

They've thrown the caution when cars were coming to the checkered flag
before.

No, leader had not crossed the finish line -- Gordon went into the wall in
front of my seat -- first thing I did was check the finish line and the
leaders were well short of it.
