I don't see why Michael or NAPA care about the T35.

BDR is out of the T35 in owners points so it *is* skin off BDR's teeth, but
Michael and NAPA are outside the T35 next year no matter what, so, big
deal.

Why is Mikey out "no matter what"? He can still get back in the top 35 this
year. (at least it's mathematically possible)

Because next year he is a new team, no T35 carryover for him. For BDR there
is, but he's not BDR next year so he starts with 0.

Mikey does not drive for BDR racing this year. Doug Bawel is listed as the
owner of Waltrip-Jasper Racing. Remember when Mikey basically bought the #77
team's 2005 owner's points?

... and *contracted* BDR for the cars ... that's right.

*Actually* Wild, you may still be correct if the Bawel-Waltrip deal was just
for this year. If it is indeed "just" MWR next year (with no Doug Bawel), it
is no longer the same team. Or would it be? How much can a team change on
the executive level and still qualify for its previous year's owner points?
Hmmm.

Doesn't matter really. TRD and Toyo-Japan will dump enough cubic dollars and
tech resources on their teams that getting in on time won't be problematic
for long, if at all. They may or may not race well, but I bet we see them
making a fair number of races early on. Provided they can get their blocks
and heads and such approved by NASCAR soon enough of course.

Considering that Mikey basically bought the 77 team and it's owner points,
I'd say they're pretty negotiable.

I think not buying a ride for Indy was a big mistake. Having a DNQ will
certainly make it harder for them to get back in the top 35 and thus make
it
harder to get in the Daytona 500 next year.

Maybe they bought their way into the 600 for NAPA, but they should have
bought
their way into Indy (especially since they had offers from willing
sellers) for
Michael Waltrip Racing's future.

WHY BOTHER? He's washed up as a driver. The only races he did win were the
plate races with the DEI engines that even Shelmerdine could have won with.
He's only been around as long as he has because he's such a good pitchman
and the Waltrip name.

Actually, didn't Mikey buy the 55 from Bill Davis? Isn't Mikey listed as the
owner?
