30 laps is pretty much a full fuel run at Indy, with the smaller
fuel cell they use now. (30 laps is 75 miles; the cars get ~ 4mpg
on an 18 gallon fuel cell which is 72 miles).
The drivers that tested in the big session said they were going
pretty hard, too...it was in their interest to stress the tires
and try to prove Goodyear wrong, so I don't think anyone was
soft pedalling.

True, altho they generally didn't blow out - they just got so
slippery that the drivers couldn't stand it.
