Rising ticket prices are the blame. At the very first RIR (Richmond) night race, tickets where $35 for the Dogwood section. Now-those same seats are in excess of $100+. back stretch up at RIR-$85. At Martinsville 10 years ago-the best seat was $45 up high on the front grand stand. Now, again that ticket is $85+. Plus-gas to get these events was a $1.00 cheaper than it is today. At these prices-which is more important; keeping the bills paid or taking a family of four to a NASCAR event? NASCAR is slowly turning events into the "rich man's" sport! |
