Tickets for the Daytona 500 didn't sell out until 2 wks ago. It used to
be sold out for YRS because the same ppl kept renewing their tickets.

So, who knows.

I do know, on race day at Daytona, there are scalpers everywhere.

the south, new england and the mid-atlantic states are where NASCAR should
confine itself.
screw the rest of the country, let them watch on TV.

Gee, I don't know.......maybe because it costs a months wages to take the
family to the race now? Can't afford to go to the races and feed the family
at the same time anymore. I'm saving up though, maybe I'll have enough to
go to the Daytona 500 in 2010. That is if NASCAR hasn't collapsed in on
itself by then.

I didn't think money was a problem for those Hollywood types.

The July race in Daytona isn't sold out either.

And I had something to do with that one : )

Think it's the prices?
Maybe traffic? That's why I gave up on Pocono. It used to take me 3
hours to make the 50 mile trip home. 2 hours just to get out of the
field.
Maybe a lot of people just have better things to do?

I've never understood the logic of scheduling a race in S Cal in the few
weeks that has the worst weather. At this point it looks like it will be
raining next weekend.

Rising ticket prices are the blame.

At the very first RIR (Richmond) night race, tickets where $35 for the
Dogwood section. Now-those same seats are in excess of $100+. back stretch
up at RIR-$85.

At Martinsville 10 years ago-the best seat was $45 up high on the front
grand stand. Now, again that ticket is $85+.

Plus-gas to get these events was a $1.00 cheaper than it is today.

At these prices-which is more important; keeping the bills paid or taking a
family of four to a NASCAR event? NASCAR is slowly turning events into the
"rich man's" sport!
