Lorain Speedway will not pursue NASCAR sanction in 2006
Tim Stephens
SOUTH AMHERST, Ohio -- Lorain Speedway will not pursue a
continuing NASCAR sanction in 2006, it was announced Friday
by Tim Stephens, General Manager. The track has operated
under a NASCAR sanction since 2001.
"Having reviewed the benefits and liabilities of maintaining a
NASCAR sanction, we've come to the decision that it's in the
best interest of RaceTown/Lorain Speedway to not pursue a
continued relationship with NASCAR in 2006," Stephens said.
"This decision has been based on both a dollars and cents
review of the program as it has functioned through the years
as well as detailed conversations with competitors who have
raced at both NASCAR-sanctioned and independent tracks in
recent seasons. It's our belief that this decision will best
serve not only our track but our competitors."
