Talk about a driver who always seemed to have some "extra" gas. Yep, old
DW. Younger DW back then.

Seems to me I remember DW telling a story of a guy getting ripped by NASCAR
for a bunch of infractions, something like 8 or so. They pulled the gas
tank and a bunch of other parts out of it, laid them on the ground and told
him why it was all illegal. He said something like "well you may as well
fine me for 9 things then" and got in the car, started it up, and drove
away.

Maybe someone can find the link, it was a funny story.

Gary Nelson wrote the book on cheating with the DiGard team - which DW drove
for before moving on to Junior's team.

Yeah, I love the little fan he attached to the alternator so that airflow thru the grille
would drive it.
Nascar saw it and ruled it illegal. They didn't even care if it made the car faster or
not.
Smokey hated Nascar for picking on him all the time.

I will stand corrected...but I still think
junior knew a thing or three ..that nobody
else knew. We do know that he was a
terror on them back roads "::"

That's a story attributed to Smokey Yunick, but apparently it
is not true. Still makes a good story though,
