Default ot best teevee scene - 09-14-2009 , 02:58 AM

The teevee has been around for about two or three generations now and in
some ways it represents and presents the best our society has to offer.

One of the best things I can recall from the teevee was the McDonald's
commercial all about the serviceman coming home through his hood and
everybody wanting to mess with him and he ignored them and he gets home and
everybody wants to mess with him and he ignores them and he only has eyes
for his moms. You had to see it but that was one good commercial.
Everybody and everything else did not matter. He just wanted to hug his
moms.

But the best scene on drama teevee was something from West Wing about five
or ten years ago. Young guy goes to the White House employment office to
apply to be a bike messenger. By some typical government snafu they slot
him to apply to be the Aide to the President. So bye and bye he meets the
President and he is all overwhelmed and stuff. The President says that he
has a lot of work to do and does this young man want to help him? The young
guy is all nervous and does not know what to say. The President tells him to
say "yes". So he does. For my money that was the best TV bit ever.
Actually it is just the best TV bit I ever saw. There were most like 1,000
better TV bits that I never saw.

Young man: I just came here to be a bicycle messenger
The President: Do you want to help me?
Young man: Yes, Sir.

President: Do you want to work for me?
young man: No, Sir.
President: Do you want to work for me for the second time?
young man: Yes, Sir.

It may be all hokey and contrived but I still remember that bit
