Default ot curiostiy question - 09-14-2009 , 10:44 PM

You know that I am not exactly a world scholar or statesman but just what
the fuck is going on in Africa and what is the United Nations doing about
it?

I am not suggesting that anybody should pick up those Africans and move them
to Santa Barbara or Long Island but there must me something that can be
done.

Send some burlap bags of rice from Louisiana and some hot sauce for flavor
or something.

Those emaciated kids with flies all over their face do not need to be that
way. Send one Texas Ranger. Within two days he will be calling up his old
boys and within three months it will be Scarsdale. And if some Texas gals
come along it will be Beverly fucking Hills.

I am not saying that every problem on the whole planet can be solved by good
will. But most problems can be solved with just what we know and can do
now.

Are people hungry in Haiti? Take some food there. Are a lot of people
hungry in North Korea? Take a lot of food there. Are a whole lot of people
hungry in rural China? Take a whole lot of food the are.

Nothing is nothing but a thing. It is how you approach or avoid that thing
that determines what you are,

I would not say that the United States is responsible to eradicate world
hunger. But we could.

Nothing is nothing but a thing.

"Nothing" is actually a "thing" with the letters n and o added on.....

That's been did. And a year or two later, folks are staving
again. Taking food cures the symptom but it doesn't solve
the problem.

That said, I have no idea what the solution to the problem is.

giving them food will not help, you give a man a fish and he eats for
a day, teach a man to fish and he will eat for life. The problem is
not giving them food, we must teach them how to farm, raise livestock
and grow vegetables

It's an unsolvable problem.
If you send them a whole bunch of food, they will all get
healthier..........and have more babies.

I don't either - especially North Korea - nobody can do anything for
North Korea, with the current leadership in place.

OTOH, contribute to "Heifer International," a group intent on helping
countries feed their inhabitants. It's one of the most helpful
charities, because it gives families the means to better their lives
and produce their own food.

The overpopulation led to over farming, eventually killing the
nutrients the soil needs to grow more food.

Any mention of birth controls are met with calls of racism or
genocide. I guess educating them would lead to accusations of
imperialism.

The biggest problem is the governmentalization of the formerly well
intentioned people. They are too politically correct for their own
good. They can't see the big picture long enough to make useful
decisions. We do it in this country by looking to government for
solutions to all of our problems. The government which daily, grows
more incapable of solving anything.

It is a shame.

Teach him to fish, and he'll sit in a boat drinking beer all day...
