According to the announcers during Sunday's Martinsville race, Jimmy
Johnson could speed on pit road as long as he did it between the timing
loops. I thought the pit road speed limit was for safety of the pit
crews. Doesn't him speeding defeat the purpose?

No wonder Montoya was upset - he was correct when he told his pit crew
that Johnson was speeding on pit road.

And no penalty? Not even a warning?

And they say Nascar doesn't play favorites!

I disgree with Pit Road speed limits, as long as you are below track
speed you are good to go. Speed in speed out.
Yeah, it would be great to see a crew member get run over at 180mph at
Atlanta! WOOHOO!

When they were making 25 second stops, even though
the cars were going faster in the pits, there wasn't that
"urgency" to get the stop done fast, like they do today.
If a car was coming in, or leaving, and it was going to be close call,
the guys would lift a bit.

Today, it's just incredibly hairy.
TV doesn't do it justice by any stretch.
I honestly don't know why there are not
more serious accidents.
Involving cars and/or crew guys.
It's just soooooo freakin' tight.
And fast.
Guys get brushed all the time.
I'd slide a car up against the fence anytime,
but I don't think I'd want to be a tire changer/jackman...

I got a new Matco tool box for my wife.
Best trade I ever made...

Back then, too, the pits were busy if there was 6 or 8
cars in the pits. It got bad when they started closing
the pits on yellow and clumping the field behind the pace
car, and got worse when they started fooling with the rules
to keep as many cars as possible on the lead lap. Now
it's not unusual to see 35 cars on pit road all at once.
