How about "old" footage from Richmond, back when it was at the
fairgrounds. Or at the "new" location, but when it was still a more
traditionally shaped oval? And the asphalt, lower banked Bristol
images? Ah, the good old days....lol Even though it is the fastest
track on the circuit, I still like the "old" oval (not tri-oval)
shaped Atlanta too...

When did RIR move?

The old 1/2 mile track was located on the Fairgrounds property, and when
it was reconfigured, it was done on the same property. My understanding
was that RIR's owners bought the Firgrounds property and then sold out to
ISC and RIR is in the same location it has always been.

It may be on the same property, I ain't that old. I just hear old timers
speak of Richmond in terms of "the old fairgrounds track" and the track
today. And I am pretty sure that the track today was born of a more pure
oval (that is the backstretch and today's pit lane) that was expanded with
the sweeping front stretch later on. Maybe the difference is simply the
reconfigure and the asphalt? Dunno. But I thought they were two separate
facilities.

and my personal favorite "Peach or Cherry?" which is very funny in a
state
where moonshine still thrives, and peach and cherry are the only flavors
one
could find, if they were actually looking, which I don't.....lol

this is where Franklin county Va still shines(pun intended) then...we have
a
large variety. Peach, damsen, Cherry, Blueberry, strawberry, etc.....good
stuff...

Yeah, the guys around here are always talking about getting someone to do
some "apple brandy" sometime. Apparently, apples don't get along too good
with the process, 'cause I've never seen or heard of any outside of "talk"
about it. I have seen strawberry though. Wonder what blueberry tastes like?
Blueberry racing fuel I imagine...lol Let's face it, if it didn't get
consumed, this stuff would make a great paint stripper.

It is, the reconstruction was in 1988.

Hehe. Yeah, I imagine it's a lot like eating the fruit out of a cooler of
PJ. Nothing like Everclear saturated fruit to get you going in the morning!
lol

N., the picky person. LOL.

Ya know... in a way, it is correct... well, somewhat anyway. Although it's
normally said "granted"... by the other poster stating "grant it"... if he'd
have said "I grant it"..(meaning, conceding the point), it would've been
correct... In this case, I'm guessing that the "I" was implied.

And I'm not sure that it's not completely correct the way he posted...
certainly not an English major, but...

Well, I was, in a lifetime before this one. Pretty far-fetched
explanation, I think ... it should have been "granted." I'm always
amazed at what my fingers do even though I know what I mean to type....
