While the debate in this thread is a no_win argument, ................... these NASCAR 'events" are most definitely a consumer 'product' - practically speaking (perhaps not technically speaking). NASCAR seems to be constantly looking for ways to keep speeds down ................ so just put rain tires (or intermediates) on, and race in the rain. They have done it for decades in open wheel, open cockpit cars simply by changing tires. NASCAR's racing machines have windshields and covered cockpits, so the excuse for not running in the rain is all wet. |

The IRL races on ovals in the rain? |

Ovals are a different story ................... and Pocono doesn't really qualify as an oval. Drying an oval is a doable task .............. drying Pocono (or any other road/street track) before the sun sets is futile. On these big spacious tracks, ... just put rain gear on and run. |

Just another example of NASCAR screwing the fans. NASCAR could have run the race up until the halfway point and then called the race. |
All NASCAR tracks should have lights. |
Running a race on Monday does not cut it, many fans will not get to see the race, and they lose the ticket money. Races that are cancelled should be run on another weekend date.. |
NASCAR should otherwise offer a full refund of fan ticket price and give the fan a free t-shirt. |

It is bullshit that NASCAR cannot get a race in on the scheduled race day, now fans have to go home and eat a ticket price. |
That is just pure bullshit. |
NASCAR should reschedule and make sure fans get into the race without problem. |
NASCAR makes out big on days like this because they know not many fans will show up, and there is no TV coverage on top of that. |

Yeah, and then people would be bitching that they only ran to halfway and should have waited until tomorrow. Doesn't matter WHAT Nascar did, people are going to complain. NASCAR could give people who hand their tickets back in a voucher for a 50% discount to any other race they choose, so the tracks still get their money and the fans get some incentive to come back, instead of just a disappointing experience. |

If you can't make it on Monday, then you lose. That is the risk you take. That risk might prevent some people from buying tickets. Giving them some sort of option, like a discount for a future race ticket, might end up being more profitable than the current situation for some tracks. |

They're showing it on TV on ESPN as far as I could tell from the broadcast today. Or am I missing something? |
