They're showing it on TV on ESPN as far as I could tell from the broadcast
today. Or am I missing something?

yes, the fact that therace they showed was last weeks race from Indy.
And you're missing the fact that Monday's race will air live on ESPN
starting at noon Eastern.

The IRL races on ovals in the rain?

Ovals are a different story ................... and Pocono doesn't really
qualify as an oval. Drying an oval is a doable task .............. drying
Pocono (or any other road/street track) before the sun sets is futile. On
these big spacious tracks, ... just put rain gear on and run.

The goddamn thing already takes FOUR hours to run, are you looking for an
endurance race at Pocono? The NW race that was run in the ran last yr
sucked, btw.
hoo boy.

what do you base that statement on.
was it the fact I told the poster I replied to that they were showing an old
race during the rainout or is it just because you are an ass?

Just another example of NASCAR screwing the fans. *NASCAR could have
run the race up until the halfway point and then called the race. *All
NASCAR tracks should have lights. *Running a race on Monday does not
cut it, many fans will not get to see the race, and they lose the
ticket money. *Races that are cancelled should be run on another
weekend date..

NASCAR should otherwise offer a full refund of fan ticket price and
give the fan a free t-shirt.
Yeah, and then people would be bitching that they only ran to halfway
and should have waited until tomorrow. Doesn't matter WHAT Nascar did,
people are going to complain.

After re-reading my post, I see the confusion. That should have head
"They're showing it on TV on ESPN [tomorrow at noon] as far as I could
tell from the broadcast today [when they announced the postponement].
Or am I missing something?"

I don't think there should be any refund. If you can't make it on
Monday, then you lose. That is the risk you take.

That risk might prevent some people from buying tickets. Giving them some
sort of option, like a discount for a future race ticket, might end up
being more profitable than the current situation for some tracks.

That "risk" hasn't prevented any such issue so why should you raise that
as a "concern" now? I think you need to spend some time understanding
what tracks do really offer ticket holders Chad, and what the acceptance
of that has been over the years. You're coming up with ideas to solve a
problem that does not exist beyond the minds of a handful of not-so-bright
posters here.

Talking about turning a negative into a positive is not-so-bright?? ok
*rolls eyes*

NASCAR could give people who hand their tickets back in a voucher for a 50%

disappointing experience.

Why? The fans haven't needed any incentive since 1949. They are still
coming back.

What is the percentage of NASCAR races that have been run on Monday
instead of Sunday because of weather? And what percentage of those fans
present on Sunday couldn't attend the race on Monday?

There is waaaaay too much being made out of this.

Judging from the size of Monday's crowd on TV you are probably right that it
isn't a huge issue. But as you say it happens so rarely and only affects a
minority negatively anyway, so why not show some goodwill to those people?
It shouldn't end up as a big cost the way you explain it. Sounds like an
easy win-win move to me.

Looking after the little problems along the way is often the easiest way to
avoid ever having a big problem... like sharply declining crowds.
