so it is okay for spike lee to stereotype in SCHOOL DAZE, yet not okay for
imus to reference that movie on his show doing the exact same schtick?

No. In much the same way it is okay to watch a movie called "Texas Chainsaw
Massacre" but it is frowned upon to chainsaw your neighbors into pieces.
The arts enjoy an opportunity to illustrate things that would be very bad in
real life.

Movies like "The Godfather" and "Silence of the Lambs" and television
programs such as "The Sopranos" are significant parts of the pop culture but
they are not lessons on how to behave in real life.

It struck me as rather odd that the mos' "revrund" Je$$e Jack$on would have
the gall to criticize Imus' stupid but truthful remark after his own
insensitive but factual reference to New York City as "Hymie-town"!

So any improper act can be excused by making reference to any other improper

The "so's your old man" is a favored argument of the neo-Confederate.

By the way, Imus' slur on the Rutgers women was not truthful and
neither was Jackson's slur on Jews.

If the absolute worse thing that ever happens to those
girls, for the rest of their lives,
is that a guy that none of them knew,
said something that none of them heard,
and did so without malice,
they will be a lot more fortunate than most of us....

Now that the Imus lynch mob has
repeatedly said how they also find the
rap/hip-hop culture to be every bit as offensive,
I hope we are kept abreast of which record companies,
and which artist/producers are being targeted first
to be fired as well.
We'll see.... my money?
There won't be any.

And how many non-white comedians will refer to whites as "crackers" in their
act and never be confronted by the media for it?

The Russians are saying in their news reports that Imus was about to come
forward with secret information about 9/11. According to their reports,
his demise has nothing to do with racial slurs.
This was on a Pravda report but I can't find it now.

If words are harmless why waste your time with any words concerning
those from whom you feel aggrieved?

"let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"
Remember that one?
Jackson should remember that, seeing how he is referred to as the "reverend"
Jackson.
