I find those commercials offensive. Like some black kid can't have Richard
Petty or Jeff Gordon as a role model. Are black kids restricted by some
sort of law to having only black role models? Don't white kids look up to
Shaq and want to play like him? When our nation can ignore race is when
racism will end. For the most part, the organizations that, on the surface
are out to end racism, only seem to perpetuate it. But that only makes
sense. If there was no racism, there would be no need for these folks, and
they would have to find another line of work.

No - they just don't seem to be interested in racing, period. When I go to
local tracks, it's very rare to see a black person there. Mexicans, yes.
Blacks, no.

You do raise an interesting point. Now, I don't really pay attention to
race, but that is probably because of the way I was raised. This past
summer, I took my girlfriend up to Indiana for some sprint car racing on our
vacation. She is a Pacific Islander, so she tends to pay more attention to
such things than I do. After our first night at Bloomington, on the way
back to the car, she mentioned to me that she had never seen such an "all
white" group of folks all together in her life. Me, I never realized it.

That said, I still find the commercials offensive. It is like saying that
all blacks can only have black heroes, and the same for each race. If there
was ever an example of pure racism, that is it.
