though it's not as user friendly and a lot more complex than Agent.

You're using the best out there. There is a newer version than what
you have though. Give that a try.

Xnews, which is arguably the best newsreader out there, altho
it's idiosyncratic and takes a while to learn. Used to use
Free Agent, which is a very easy program to use, but it lacks
a lot of the features of Xnews (scoring, for instance).

I use Pan on the Linux box, but I don't usually use that
machine for reading news since it's often disassembled.

I have tried a number, but always come back to the Paid
version of Agent.
