Get rid of the chase |
non-diehards are even caring about the sport now, so that's not about

shouldn't NASCAR? Plus they do need something to compete with baseball,
football, and hockey at this time of year.

No other teams play more than one team at a time.
Their playoffs are consitent with the way the whole season is
played.
Same rules.
NASCAR has their playoffs consistent with the way their season is
played.
43 in a race..
Same rules.
They can start having 12 in a race,
when basketball has 6 teams on the court.

need to draw parallels to other sports that use a true playoff system. Given
the choice, I prefer the term "postseason" instead.

Actually I wouldn't apply any name to it.
The season, for me, starts in February, and ends in November.
