(this one still doesn't make much sense, does it?) Dunno why you say it doesn't make sense. I beleive this is exactly what happened. If I'm correct, look for the post-500 penalty to be severe. This isn't using a part which is in the grey area, or misinterpreting an opaque NASCAR rule. This is intentionally introducing something that you know to be in violation of the rules. |

It's not "people", it's NASCAR. For whatever reason NASCAR has decided that pressing the boundries isn't part of the game any longer, and that they're going to punish teams who try (and thus the fans get to amuse themselves trying to guess what new punishment NASCAR will come up with). |

Myself, I beleive France, Helton, et al have some deep seated insecurities, which manifest in a need to "be in charge" and exercise control over everything. Hence the fixation on making and enforcing rules. |

I liked it better the old way. |

Really doesn't matter with Knaus. He's a born cheat. Just look at his resume... |
|
He's well on his way to being banned from pit road and the garage area. He's gotten to the point where he's now a liability to Rick Hendrick as far as points go. |

I realize it's NASCAR John, but just look at all the clamor here for 2 or 4 or 5 race suspensions, huge fines, elimination from the Chase, etc. Look how often you see the word "penalty" and "punishment" here. It applies to things like Knaus' infraction to the 99 car's episode during the Bud Shootout. There's a growing cry for punishment. Hence the fixation on making and enforcing rules. I was going to say the very same thing - that it was a control fixation on NASCAR's part, but I was afraid I'd have to do too much explaining of my position and I just didn't have the energy to go there. I liked it better the old way. Me too, but I suspect that's obvious. -Mike- mmarlowREMOVE (AT) alltel (DOT) net The Car & Engine of Tomorrow will fix all the control fixations! |
