The Chase format is crap and ruins the last part of the season because
it effectively takes the remaining field, those not in the chase, out
of the remaining races.

I do like the sport but really hate aspects of the sport that truly
take away competition.
I wouldn't count on Kyle just pulling over for the top 12 to go by.

You're right. All is lost. You should consider suicide.

Apparently you have not paid any attention to the previous Chase runs.

Timmy .............. it depends on what you mean when you say, "out of the
remaining races". If the chase weren't being used, Tony would probably have
to suffer at least 2 DNF's (in 35th place or worse) with either Gordon or JJ
winning. In fact, sans the chase, it would take a small miracle for either
JG or JJ to overtake Tony, and a huge miracle for any of the remaining 9 to
overtake Tony. The old system effectively takes MORE drivers out of the hunt
for the championship. The logical argument against the chase has never been
about who's being eliminated, ..... but rather, it has been about affording
new opportunity to drivers who, under the old system, would have no chance
and thus the 'against_change' crowd argue that they don't deserve a chance
at the championship. This is arguably a year where Tony gets screwed (by
using the chase format as opposed to the old system).

Your argument against the chase because it takes the rest of the field out
of the remaining races doesn't fly.

You have to think more outside the traditional box. The chase actually
reintroduces some form of competition for the last 10 races ... it does not
taketh it away. This could well be a year that without the chase, Tony could
cruise to a championship with another 10 top 10's (i.e. mediocrity from here
on in would probably get Tony the championship - under the old system). But
with the chase, Tony will be forced to be competitive and top 10's won't cut
it.

Your argument against the chase because it reduces competion doesn't fly.

There are some traditionalists in here who don't like the chase - but at
least their argument can be substantiated by the simple fact that from here
on in, Tony is potentially being screwed out of a championship. Your
arguments against just don't hold water.

I agree.
Plus.... favorites like Carl Edwards and Mark Martin, or Kasey Kahne,
Kurt Busch would never have had a realistic chance..
Everyone wants to see Martin win... well... he has a chance now.
It could very well go to the last race, as it has before..

Not everyone. Though I must confess, I'm less the detractor than I used to
be.

More of a generalization type term.
I'm not one either.
I won't mind if he does,
but I'm not going to feel bad if he doesn't...

I should have said "nearly" everyone...

Robby Gordon can easily try to take out the 12 chasers every week.

Hey, don't pick on my buddy, RG. I was at
the 2nd Pocono race ~month ago, and thanks
to him, JJ was able to get back on the lead
lap and score a 13th place finish. He was
responsible for 2 of the 3 late cautions.
