works is somewhat of a mystery, since our public schools display his
image to impressionable youth 35 times more often than they do the
image of George Washington -- and almost as often as they reverently
intone about the horrors of the 'Holocaust.' |
That is okay. In California (at least in the San Diego County Districts) they
don't teach about George Washington but they sure do teach about and celebrate
Caesar Chavez.
Several years ago one of my employees (I was her supervisor) brought her
9-year-old daughter to work with her. At some point I gave the little girl a
dollar to buy a soft drink. I asked her who's picture was on the bill. She
didn't know!! I told her. She didn't know who he was!! But she knew who
Caesar Chavez was!!!
