They finally had a race with more than 4 cars on the lead lap and you are
bragging about it.
Why don't you go to an indy car newsgroup and stay there ?

Racin is racin.
and no two groups are bugger snobs than NA$CAR and F1.
and Indy doesn't throw phoney cautions to keep the field bunched. if NA$CAR
cut that shit out their routine "close finishes would disappear.
Indy now puts on the best show, I watch them all and it's obvious.

I've been to races by them all and indy has less on track bullshit and
manipulation than the other two.
NA$CAR is becoming unwatchable becauase of the contrived "close finishes"

it's east to have cars on the lead lap when you get a debris caution anytime
someone gets a decent lead.

and NA$CAR has the worst announcers, no "BOOGITY BOOGITY BOOGITY" crap and
they act like the audience are idiots who've never seen a race.

Indy fine on ovals,
Sad that they had to bail on their original concept,
that being to run those cars on ovals only.
Next year for the first time, they will run on more road courses
than ovals.... That sucks.

The Push To Pass button must have made the difference with passing
& side by side racing. Maybe NASCAR Cup ought to install them?

I think the problem there is that there aren't very many suitable
ovals which don't have a NASCAR Cup race, and the casual fans that
would go to one race a year chose the Cup race over the IRL race.
Road courses give them an opportunity to be the "big event" at
places NASCAR doesn't go.

It's a pity NASCAR won't give up on some of the ovals like Fontana
that aren't well suited to Cup style cars, and leave them to the
Indy cars.

I wonder how good Joey will be in six more years, when he
is then 25, as Brad is now?

Dunno. We've seen some guys just keep getting better as they
gain in experience, and we've seen some guys hit a wall and
flame out. It will be interesting to see how Logano fares in
the next few years.

John

(wondering if Kyle Busch falls into the "hit wall" category)

Push-to-pass is a video game gimmick that has made it's way into real racing
(F1 has their KERS systems)

That said, it improved the racing significantly in Champ Car, and the IRL
will likely benefit from it as well. F1's KERS system isn't beneficial
enough to justify the extra weight, and cost saving measures may doom it to
the history books before it can be fully explored.
