I'm sure I'll get flames here but Outlook Express if fine once you get it
setup properly.

Top posting is still an issue because it defaults to the top but a quick cut
and past takes care of that. There are also third party quoting add-ons
that you can use.

I use OE too Rob, and don't even worry about the cut and paste.. just scroll
to wherever I want to post! It seems to quote properly for me too, although
sometimes it is tough to follow.

Now a question... does the "server" software your news server uses have any
effect on the posts themselves, meaning, would Agent work better with some
news servers, and maybe OE work better with others?

OE. Works fine. I don't feel the need to rebel against 'the man'.

Best add on I've seen so far.

I don't believe it matters at all. I've read discussion here and other tech
groups that some readers affect the time stamp defiantly but most time those
threads end with the user not having the clock set right.

Other considerations, are like length, and making sure you are NOT posting
in HTML.

I must say I like the way Agent displays the header info and I wish OE did
the same. I also like the fact that Agent and other readers can filter
based on header info; OE cant. but I don't use that much anyway.

What I really want is a AI filtering system that can drop post based on a
profile I set up so when the trolls and pest morph or use sock puppets, the
rule can still filter based on how the content is worded. That would take
care of SAP and TP. ;-)

I've used it from time to time but I've found that it leaks and cause me to
restart OE. It's been a few months since the last time I had it installed,
maybe it's time to give it a try again.

I use both Outlook Express and full version of Agent. Both have their pros
and cons. OE is easier, quicker. Agent has more features and is a tad less
user friendly until you learn it.

Since NNTP is a well accepted standard, I don't think your client makes a
difference in relation to the server. Meaning no, one doesn't really work
better with a certain server. That is say the way Pan interfaces with
Leafnode is no different than the way OE does. Now...the way the
programs(clients) process the data DO make a difference. Meaning the way
they're programmed makes a LOT of difference. Pan for instance is about
30-40% faster on my machine than OE is. Of course, as always, YMMV.
