side only as opposed to a street or drag motor that has ventiliation on both
sides?

less chance of oil coming out of the breathers in a turn if they are both on
one side, usually the left valve cover.

Centrifugal force basically.

Oil would spill out of the breathers on the outside (right side)
Wet sump oil pans are also built with this in mind. The sump which holds the majority of the oil and the pickup tube are located on
the right side where all the cornering g-forces collect the oil. If the sump where not positioned like that, chances are the oil
pump would gulp air during a hard turn. Most likely burning up the bearings.
But Winston Cup cars don't use wet sump oiling so they don't have to worry about it.
