What caused the upside down 12 ghosting effect in front of the 8 car? Just
curious.

Just

reflection off of a hoya 77 MM filter.

I'll have to remember to remove it for the september race.

This one is a reflection off the track and is much more pronounced.........

Ah ha! So the hoya filter is the common denominator...

Boy, Rappy, that #2 shot sure reveals the 'commonness' of the common
templates. On TV, it's a bit more difficult to tell how common they really
are. Thanks for posting!

Pic number 2 looked like a challenge to get, noisy, Ryan's #12
reflected/refracted and put upside down in front of Junior's
car...presumably from inside the lens itself.

Nice grabs.

Lord, don't let Hoya hear that. Aren't they the ones that advertise their
super secret coating to "both" sides that are supposed to eliminate such
things?

(Not to worry, I have seen similar ghosting from my Singh Ray Enhancing
Polarizer)

I know you're using a Nikon digital, but what flavor (length/aperture) of
lens are you using? I'm using a Canon 70-200/2.8L for my night races but am
still struggling a bit...

Richmond night races are a challenge to shoot. No doubt about it.

Lighting at Charlotte is much better...........

I agree. Given that I am grandstand-bound at most races, I've never even
taken my camera to Richmond for that reason alone. Charlotte does work out
better, even from the fan's point of view.

You coming to Speedweeks down here then? It ought to be fun for the
attendees if we can keep the rain away. We appear to be settling into a
rainy afternoon/evening weather pattern for about the next week it appears.
I'm not going, but I hate to see events get rained out, maybe we'll get
lucky.
