He is NASCAR's vice president of competition, who handed down the penalties to Chad Knaus this week. Ironically, Pemberton was Mark Martin's crew chief in 1990 when the team was penalized 46 points and fined $40,000 because of a carburetor spacer. He also received two other large fines for infractions while serving as crew chief for Rusty Wallace. |

| No, but who would you rather want in charge of catching and punishing cheaters - a guy with demonstrated expertise in the area or a guy with an MBA? What about the guy leaving the post? Gary Neslon had quite a reputation. |
