Default Ryan Newman - 02-20-2006 , 01:50 PM

Pretty weak remark in his post race interview about the #48 might "still not
pass" post race inspection. Sounded like a piss poor loser hoping for
someone to hand him the win.

It was a legitimate remark. It's the same thing my group said after the
finish: "We'll find out Monday who won the 500".
That team does not deserve the benefit of the doubt.

Why was that week? The 48 car does have a shadow having over it.

http://www.jayski.com/teams/48.htm
"This is the seventh time Knaus has been fined and/or suspended by NASCAR
for infractions on one of his cars. The first two came in 2001 when he was
working on Stacy Compton's car. The other five have come with Johnson."

Seven friggin times and JJ didn't even have to go to a backup car. It makes
it look like cheating just gets you a slap on the wrist by NASCAR.

It was a weak remark because he had no proof that this particular car failed
any inspection. Drive the car, Ryan, and leave the inspections to NASCAR.

It was the same car that failed post-qualifying inspection.

I thought it was supposed to be a joke. It *was* funny, but RN isn't a real
good joke teller.

Did RN get the results of the post race inspection before anyone else?

Regardless of post-race inspection results, when is the last time NASCAR
took a win away?

Under their current system they just take driver and owner's points,... the
win stands.

50 points from the driver, and 50 points from the owner hurts!

Has any driver/owner penalized with the standard deduction ever come back to
win the championship?

In Cup? 1955 - Fireball Roberts was stripped of his win after failing
post-race inspection. Tim Flock was credited with the win.

Not that I'm aware of, but I know of one driver who lost the
championship because of a points penalty incurred during the season.

Doesn't have much of a personality either.
