The BBs (broadcast boys) said Talladega had 19 scoring loops - there used to be a lot less, but they've added a bunch. So I'd say they have a lot more (2.66 mi. track) than Martinsville. So there is no standardization. How should it be determined? Loops per |

I know you race, as some of us also do/have. All I can say is, I WISH they had a system like that on the tracks that we raced at. I remember one particular race, where I was working my butt off to pass a guy for the lead. I think I wore out 20 sets of tires in 8 laps trying to pass this guy, and finally did, cleanly... only to have the caution come out as we came out of turn 4.. |

As is the case, on most Saturday night bullrings, we went back to the last scored lap... which put him back in front of me... I know... it's the same for everyone. But the scenario doesn't come up all that often, and I ended up losing a race, that I really worked my ass off for, because some squirrel all by himself, decided to test out the concrete.... THAT is what determined the outcome of the race. So really... from a competitor's view, I'd prefer the loop system, it's just so much more real time. |
