Really?!? I heard France point out that the pit speed alert flashes up on a computer in the box "that everyone can see" and kind of wondered at the time who "everyone" might be. Pit road speed data would be very useful for all the teams and transparency. They even mentioned Montoya was pushing it, if he had known that during previous stops the error may never have occurred. Chad I'm sorry, Chad, that wasn't written too clearly, I guess. I was jokingly writing what I thought AJ was thinking. That one NASCAR official, has the only computer with the speeds on it, and he is in a locked closet, and no one else is allowed to see that information. That everyone elses computers showing race data had some sort of filter on it. Which is ridiculous. Dan |

Dan Why would Chad Knaus state this week that he would like to see pit road speeds be made available to all participants? Apparently those speeds are not available to all, eh? CRU |

I can't really see a reason for wanting to see the speeds if you're not in violation, unless either a) Knaus beleives the allegation that some drivers are allowed to speed without penalty, and beleives making the info open would eliminate that. or b) he thinks the 48 team might be "leaving something on the table" in the pits, and if he sees the data and sees they're well under the limit, he knows he can push it a bit. John I would say that b) is exactly the reason: (but you read this already didn't you ;-) Winning Allstate 400 crew chief Chad Knaus referred to speed limits on pit road as "kind of a guessing game." "I'm hoping that at some point we'll be able to see the pit-road speeds published because that will allow us to work within limits that we're comfortable with (and) adjust our times accordingly throughout the events," Knaus said. "From a competitor's standpoint, if you don't know your limits, it's difficult to know what it is. You're always going to try to get to the top side of that limit." |

You just open yourself up to looking bad, if your hunch was incorrect. OK Gil Grissom. I thought it was more Obi Wan Kenobi-ish. |

Alec Guiness? Eh, not so much. |
