IOW, Darrell didn't start anything by reporting and *analyzing*
events at the track ~ that is his job.

He strongly hinted that TS should be suspended. That isn't analysis or
reporting, it's opinion. And it's laughable and absurd coming from a
guy like Waltrip.
....and Larry Mac flat out stated the MacMurray should be suspended ~ it is a
part of the job, Barry... name *one* sports commentator or analyst that
doesn't offer an occasional opinion as a part of his analysis.

As someone mentioned, TS should put together a highlight reel of DW
running into and over other cars.
As with almost anything else, it is always wise to consider the source. If
you feel that Darrell was being hypocritical that is one thing, but it is
entirely different to say that he was wrong to say it.

you're right. NASCAR has already set the precedent by making Kevin
Harvick sit out a race for rough driving.

Harvick was parked mostly because he drove his truck up to the trailer
and told NASCAR to come out and see him, or something to that effect.
After driving about 300 yards with his front bumper underneath another
truck.

That's along, long way past anything Stewart has ever done.

careful Barry, you are mixing your opinions in with your analysis there.

I can't even begin to define whether something is "right" or "wrong" to
say. Waltrip can say whatever he wants, but nobody should be surprised
when drivers start defending themselves from his ass-witted ideas and
opinions.

hmmm... I missed the part where Tony defended himself, it must have gotten
lost in all his attacks on DW.

"The best defence is a good offence."

Notice that DW keeps pretty mum whenever TS is on camera now. His
tactics seem to have worked.

"Don't like the message, attack the messenger"

IMO, it appeared as Tony didn't defend himself because he couldn't, instead
he chose to attack the messenger.

I think DW had said his piece.... Tony is the one who dragged it out by
turning it into a battle and it sure didn't work in terms of PR for Tony.

Not so much that it shut him up, but maybe he's taking the high road and
getting into a pissing match with TS. One of them has to act like an adult
and it's obvious it couldn't be Tony.

Just couldn't resist throwing in a dig on Tony about Indy.

Tony made it personal. I don't think Darrell's going to let up any
time soon. I don't necessarily think it's right, I think he should
let it be. But Tony did make it personal.

Who started it?

Well, seeing as how I don't think Darrell was driving the Home Depot
Chevy and wrecking someone EVERY WEEK, I think Tony started it.
LOL If you're going there then go back a bit further when DW was well known
as a dirty driver. Not only did he start driving that way before Tony was
in short pants, he's now a friggin hypocrite for criticzing someone else.
