OK, a question for you and Mike Marlow. Can either one of you find a
link that explains the in-car camera policy? I did some Googling and
this (below) is the only thing I could come up with, so obviously
Nascar does have some say-so.

Ok - fair question. I can't. I haven't looked. I have heard it spoken of
by the booth guys on race day though. As to NASCAR's say-so, I really don't
know what to make of what's said in the text you provided. It may be that
once a car is equipped with the gear, or is scheduled to be, that NASCAR has
a voice in changing that due to changes in car weight. If I remember
correctly - and I often do not... it seems to me that I recall hearing on a
broadcast that the in car camera gear is pretty hefty. Something that would
be considered in order to maintain the minimum weight standards.
Since those in-car cameras are tied in to Nascar's "in demand" fan
views that they tout on Nascar.com, I'd guess (guess, mind you) that
Nascar's involvement has to do with the number of in-car cameras in any
race, rather than anything else. And if more than 7 or 9 teams or
whatever want in-car cameras, then it's probably Nascar who decides who
has them and who doesn't. But I still recall that the teams have to
pay to have them in the cars. Maybe that was misspoken by the booth
boys, I don't know.

Chad telling JJ over the radio not to forget they have a
camera
inside
of the car this week. That is a very interesting comment from
a CC
that
has been caught "bending" the rules *several* times in the
past.

the helicopters are following you...

Why would CK make a comment like that unless there was something
that
he didn't want the TV camera to see?

Oye! Been watching long? How many times have you heard of drivers
getting
the call to the trailer for flipping another driver off and it was
caught on
camera? Geezus dude - you have one serious complex. I swear, you
see
more
crap hiding in shadows and whine about more things here than any 10
people.

Give me a fucking break. 99% of the time the flipping off is caught by
a camera OUTSIDE of the car. Been watching long?

If you don't think that there is a possibility that the biggest
cheater
in Nascar, CK, is doing something illegal inside of that race car,
than
you are a fool.

Ever heard of Traction Control? Why do you think Nascar mandated that
the ignition boxes, coils, and all the associated wires be mounted on
top of the dash in plain sight?

If JJ was doing something illegal inside the car, why in the hell would
they
have allowed a camera in the car in the first place??

I "think" Nascar has something to do with what cars have cameras in
them.

I know that after the whole deal with MK and Tony at Daytona when Tony
turned the in car camera away there were statements posted on Joe Gibbs
racing that they would no longer allow cameras in Gibbs cars because they
did not think that it was necessary to have the emotions of the drivers on
display in the heat of the moment (no, that is not a quote but I remeber
that was the way it came across to me when I read it). But I noticed that
for a few weeks now Denny Hamlin has been on race day scanner and Tony has
had teh camera back in his car as well. Maybe there was some sort of
penalty involved for Tonay after Daytona or maybe NASCAR does have some say
so but after seeing that statement on Gibbs I don't think that they are
mandated by NASCAR.
