Who cares?
He wasn't funny, he wasn't pertinent, he hates everybody, he said something
stupid, and now he is gone.
Good f'in riddance.

Democrats will be upset, he donates a lot of money and support to them.

Imus illustrates the fatal flaw of "talk radio," It doesn't matter how
smart you are, how well-educated, well-read, well-informed, up-to-date,
wise, and articulate you may be. If you have to talk 3-4 hours a day, 5
days a week, 52 weeks a year, eventually you run out of anything useful and
pertinent to say at which point you start talking shit. Rush Limbo, for
example, ran out of anything useful to say 10 years ago. Imus hit the wall
5 or so years ago. Just takes a few more years for their audience to
realize it.

So they fire Imus for making a racial comment but why do they stumble

did.

I agree. I was a big Rush fan in the early 90's but I guess he must
have started taking his drug cocktails in the mid 90's because his
show began to suck badly. I found myself screaming at the radio
because his talking points were so lame and missed the mark
completely.

Didn't really ever care for Imus' show. I just think his firing is
interesting. I think he has become senile and has lost control of
his rhetoric.

What he said about those girls was cruel. But that's how he has
made his living, and CBS radio enabled him all these years. He has
said far worse, but I think the timing of his firing is interesting.
My
quess is that CBS radio realized that this was a good opportunity
to dump this washed-up, hung-over, incoherent, and over-paid
has-been from their balance sheet. Put simply, he has outlived
his usefulness.

Now, ask me if I care.

Rick

Agreed. How about the Rev. Jackson calling all Jews "Heimys" and often
refers to NYC as "Heimytown"? I guess that's more allowable than using
the same urban slang like is found in 90% of the rap/hip-hop stuff out
there today, which is apparently what this Imus dude did.

Classic double standard...which I guess is what makes America great
anymore...Doesn't matter, this Imus guy - I don't listen to him - will
likely end up on sat radio, making more than he did with CBS. Worked
out okay for that Howierd Stern guy.

Not defending Imus' actions, no way. But also wonder as you have here
what he has done that Sharpton and Jackson haven't themselves done 100
times over in their "civil rights leader" positions toward caucasions
in general, and Jews as in particular when it comes to Jesse Jackson.
If there's EVER been a pot calling a kettle black, it's these two numb
nuts calling Imus a racist.

Calling some innocent people "unattractive, tatooed, rough looking,
nappy-headed whores" is hate speech. He should have been fired a week
sooner.

Imus is a racist. That is what got him fired.

And... what he said about those girls is what is said hundreds of times an
hour by every RAP singer across America's airwaves every day. But, you
don't see Sharpton and crew tackling them. I think Imus was trying to sound
"cool" (if that's even the right word), and trying to use the phrases of the
day. Dumb move on his part.

Hung over? Geeze - at least give the guy credit for that one thing that he
did right in his life. His climb out of the pits of addiction is an
admirable thing. Outlived his usefulness? Agreed.
