I always find it amusing the amount of whining about races being seen live and commercial interuptions, etc. I haven't watched a race live since the 2006 Daytona 500 and that was only because it was REALLY cold here (like -10 or -20F!) and I refused to go out of the house! I teach horseback riding lessons on Sunday afternoons, so no live races then. I also have to wake up at 4:00 am to feed the horses even on weekends, so I can't stay awake for the night races either. Don't know what I would have done without your basic generic VCR for all these years. Just finished watching Saturday night's race tonight about 20 minutes ago, because I had way too much other stuff going on this week. The few times I can actually watch part of a race live, I keep reaching for the remote to zap through commercials, which doesn't work really well on a live broadcast and old technology VCRs!!!!!!!! ;-) Sandy |

I'll start watching the race at about 9:15 - 9:30, I'll still get to see all the important stuff, miss all 151 commercials plus the caution laps, and see the end the same time you do. Amen to that. Often times, even if I am home, I will start watching an hour long program at 20-30 past the hour, and will be caught up and catch the ending on-time, having missed nothing but the commercials. How I lived without a DVR this long, is a large question to me at this point... :-) Altho, I can't start any later than 30 minutes behind without setting up a saved-recording, since my particular Tivo's "live TV" buffer only extends back in time a max of 30 minutes. I certainly recommend DVRs for racing events. It's nothing to watch a 3 hour TV timed event in about half that time, which is usually the case. I appreciate y'alls DVR advice, but i just haven't figured out what to do while the live race is going on. Should i go watch the ducks on the river while i'm recording? CRU LOL! I hear ya Cru. Now me, I am an outdoorsman, and love to boat and/or fish on Sunday afternoons. And I also occasionally race for myself on Saturday nights, so I can usually find a lot of ways to miss an actual live race broadcast. |

At least i think it's who u used to be? And another thing--So i tape the race to watch the next evening, how do i avoid newspaper, tv, radio, & internet so as not to spoil the race outcome? Move to Wyoming or North Dakota? ![]() CRU That's a tough one. "Yesterday's race" is the first thing to come up |
