Anyone else think those last three words were a direct, snide comment from Teresa?

Well, Dale Jr. trashed DEI today. He also trashed the employees. Some
are pretty upset with him. I don't blame them. I think he's an idiot .- Hide quoted text -

How did he trash anyone at DEI? I didn't hear that in a simple
statement that he's leaving. I do agree that the last three words
were uncalled-for. If Teresa wanted to take the high road in the
negotations to date, she should have been a little more willing to
talk about those negotiations before it got to this point. There's no
way she won't be blamed for Junior leaving, even if it isn't her
fault. By staying pretty silent up to now, she has let outsiders make
up their own minds about which party was unreasonably intractable.

N.
Just wait. I have heard some rumors. Just wait to hear from DEI
employees.

I've heard some rumors too, but from people actually in the know. The
only ones at DEI that will hold a grudge, will be the ones that don't
leave with him. And then their only grudge will be that they're stuck
with Teresa while some lucky ones get to go to greener pastures.

Of course, I don't see the bru-hah-hah in this anyway. Kyle Petty left
PEI for Felix Sabotes, Bill Elliott left his family effort (also while
"most popular" I might add) and went to Melling IIRC, so this is only
a "big deal" because he is only the most recent to do it, and 24/7
sports & news channels and websites exist now. Otherwise, it is not
even that original of an idea. It is just getting absurd amounts of
coverage that didn't exist when it happened earlier in NASCAR's
history.

I personally am happy for Junior. Now maybe he can go somewhere with
decent equipment and people, and *just drive* for a change. That's
something he has never been able to do while corralled in the DEI
situation, at least not at the Cup level, certainly not since early
2001. The last years he was "just a driver" would've been 98-99, and
he did pretty good those years. And so long as he doesn't land in a
Ford, I'll still support him 100% and continue to buy his stuff as
sign of said support, whether I actually still follow the sport weekly
or not.
So, will DE Jr still own ($$) a stake in DEI?

Actually the Elliott family team was Melling (George Melling bought
into it in 1982 or thereabouts). When Bill left the family operation
he went to drive for Jr Johnson (in 1992).

What a fucking stupid sentiment.

Do you switch loyalties if Barry Bonds uses a certain kind of bat?
This is an old debate in here. I am of the same sentiment as you - but there
are others who are adamant they are fans and followers of a manufacturer -
and not the driver. I, like you, can't quite get a feel for that.

Has anyone in this know-it-all RASN ever established that
DE wrote a will leaving anything to his children?
If he didn't, legally every asset belongs to Teresa.

There it is right there. I'm sure there are hundreds of businesses that this
happens to every year. The founder dies, and the widow or widower becomes the
owner. In this case, Junior's stepmom.

I'm surprised that Junior lasted this long with DEI. He is the most popular
driver in NASCAR, and can write his own ticket for years to come.

In deference to Theresa, most businesses fail shortly after the founder dies. So
she must be doing OK as a businesswoman to keep things going. Now that Junior is
gone, will they survive?

Or, as Tony Stewart said "DEI without Junior is going to turn into a museum."

Time will tell.

Mark

There ya are right there. And why should she have been expected to give Jr.
control of the company? Despite all of his popularity he hasn't shown
himself to be that exceptional of a driver. I think it was mighty nice of
her to keep him on all this time and even allow him the lucrative deal he
already had.

Yep. I am a Kensteh fan but when the misssus' Windstar is gone swear I will
never own another Ford. That was my first.....and last....
