Default Statement from "TEI" - 05-10-2007 , 11:59 AM

Statement from Teresa Earnhardt/DEI: In response to today's announcement by Dale
Earnhardt, Jr., that he will be leaving DEI, Teresa Earnhardt, CEO of Dale
Earnhardt, Inc. issued the following statement. "While we are very disappointed
that Dale Jr. has chosen to leave the family business, we remain excited about our
company's future. Our aggressive expansion and diversification plans have not
changed. This company has continued to thrive since Dale left us in 2001, and it
will thrive following today's announcement. Dale and I built this company to be a
championship-contender, and those principles still apply. Dale Earnhardt, Inc.
will win, and we have other extremely talented drivers and hundreds of employees
that are dedicated to the programs we founded. This company has a great legacy and
a bright future, built on loyalty, integrity, and commitment."(DEI)

Anyone else think those last three words were a direct, snide comment from Teresa?

Well, Dale Jr. trashed DEI today. He also trashed the employees. Some
are pretty upset with him. I don't blame them. I think he's an idiot .

How did he trash anyone at DEI? I didn't hear that in a simple
statement that he's leaving. I do agree that the last three words
were uncalled-for. If Teresa wanted to take the high road in the
negotations to date, she should have been a little more willing to
talk about those negotiations before it got to this point. There's no
way she won't be blamed for Junior leaving, even if it isn't her
fault. By staying pretty silent up to now, she has let outsiders make
up their own minds about which party was unreasonably intractable.

I've heard some rumors too, but from people actually in the know. The
only ones at DEI that will hold a grudge, will be the ones that don't
leave with him. And then their only grudge will be that they're stuck
with Teresa while some lucky ones get to go to greener pastures.

Of course, I don't see the bru-hah-hah in this anyway. Kyle Petty left
PEI for Felix Sabotes, Bill Elliott left his family effort (also while
"most popular" I might add) and went to Melling IIRC, so this is only
a "big deal" because he is only the most recent to do it, and 24/7
sports & news channels and websites exist now. Otherwise, it is not
even that original of an idea. It is just getting absurd amounts of
coverage that didn't exist when it happened earlier in NASCAR's
history.

I personally am happy for Junior. Now maybe he can go somewhere with
decent equipment and people, and *just drive* for a change. That's
something he has never been able to do while corralled in the DEI
situation, at least not at the Cup level, certainly not since early
2001. The last years he was "just a driver" would've been 98-99, and
he did pretty good those years. And so long as he doesn't land in a
Ford, I'll still support him 100% and continue to buy his stuff as
sign of said support, whether I actually still follow the sport weekly
or not.

So it is the superior news coverage that turned Junior into a turncoat and a
backstabber? That is a unique way to look at things.

LOL, backstabber? Is he breaking some contract or something that we don't
know about? Seriously, your whole arguement does not stand up at all.
