Thanks Nascar for instituting the 4 team limit. It's very satisfying to me
that a rule that was created to fuck over Jack Roush has ultimately cost
your best buddy Rick Hendrick a chance to hire the most popular driver who
would have brought huge Bud money with him.

You know Hendrick would have out-bid Childress and Junior would be going to
HMS if not for the team limit.

Actually, I'm surprised Nascar didn't temporarily rescind the rule just for
Hendrick.

Just like NASCAR is doing for Roush, meaning, his 5 NC teams and 6 or
more Busch teams?

Is Nascar supposed to force Roush into breach of contract? He has to
eleiminate one Cup team when the current sponsor contracts expire.

As for the Busch teams, there is no limit, so I'm not sure why you're crying
about that.

Actually, given the drivers that HMS already has, I don't know that
Rick would try to get Junior .... along with that sponsor money and
the fans, also comes a lot of baggage.

Eck-chually...simultaneous contract expiration of sponsor *and* driver.

I believe the point is, why was JR allowed 5 cars in the first place
with the 2 car rule in place? Many teams did the "car is in my wifes
name thing", but only to add a 3rd car..

There seemed to be NO limit on the amount of cars that JR could own
and enter into a race.

Prior to the 4 team limit, there was no limit on team ownership.

OK, let me rephrase, up until whatever yr, only two cars per owner
were eligible for the winners money (if any money, I'm not sure), that
was NASCAR's way of limiting the owners to 2 cars,..

So, owners started putting the car's in their relatives names in order
to get around the "rule".

Now I believe the "Winners Circle Program" is a "legal" way around
this, but I'm not familiar with how it works.

The Winner's Circle program was the ONLY reason for the "alternative"
ownership. I don't even know why they had the 2 car limit for the WC since
it was so easily circumvented.

Yep, you're right, I thought is was something completely different.

"The Winner's Circle Program, funded by the tracks, rewards the top 10
race winners from the previous season, with a limit of two cars per
organization."
