Default Which thrack was it... - 09-17-2006 , 04:09 PM

A few years ago I remember some toilets at the track leaked across the track
and caused a delay to the race.

Can someone clue me in with more details e.g. which track it was,
circumstances etc.?

Or did I dream it? I can't find anything by googling searches such as
'NASCAR toilet leak across track'...

Pocono 6/03 qualifying cancelled

Texas Motor Speedway 1998 qualifying cancelled
Side note.... TMS leaked at the get go, the first race had a 13 car pile
up in turn one of the first lap.

Don't think either had anything to do with toilets just rain water.

IIRC, water seeped from under the track through the asphalt.

The big first lap wreck wasn't caused by water, it was caused by a big drip
named Darrell Waltrip.

You may be thinking of the GM-UAW 500 at Charlotte in 10/98. Here's a
link that tells more about it (second paragraph):

http://www.jayski.com/past/1998/980928.htm

BTW I was at Pocono during the incident someone else mentioned. It was
caused by water left over from heavy rains earlier that day percolating
up from under the asphalt in turn 3. Friday Qualifying was cancelled and
a drainage system was hastily improvised and dug that evening. (One
report said Mike Helton himself was operating one of the backhoes). The
rest of the weekend went off on schedule. As far as I know it had
nothing to do with toilets or sewage.

Watching 10 Nascar officials standing around looking at the ground on
that Friday, one could not help but make a comparison to the "work
ethic", or lack thereof, of highway work crews.
