Default Todays race - 04-29-2007 , 06:22 PM

NASCAR must have listened (a little bit) to Stewart's commentys last week.
The had camera evidence of debris during the caustions uder 40 laps to go (I
missed the race until then). Certainly was debris on the track.

Sad way to end a race, what a bore. I wonder if NASCAR shoudl red flad
races under 10 laps to go when there is a wrecki or drbris so the drivers
can race to a finish.

Thoughts?

Wouldn't that be considered "acting like God"?

They should do away with the GWC, (or OverDrive(c)) and go back to having
yellow flag finishes. It is just part of the sport.

Well, Frank, actually they do have that policy, but they set a limit in each
race as to how many laps can be left to take that action. At the plate
tracks, they will red-flag the race if it can be restarted with enough laps
left to get plate cars up to full speed before the checker falls. Otherwise
there's no point, it would be just like a green/white/checker. In today's
situation, it would have made no difference. (Except for the fuel mileage
issues)

the rule of only 1 shot at the GWC is crazy, especially at the plate tracks,
especially for instances like yesterday.

I agree Carey. But then again, so was points racing from race 1 to
race 36. But, we got what we got, so we can either Tivo it or watch
the higlights package...lol

I would've loved to have had a GWC this past Saturday night
myself...but when the event is only 50 laps....and you don't count
caution laps...then a green with 1 to go is a green with 1 to go. You
chew off as much ground as you can between the S/F line and T1 since
you know you'll be coming back to a Checker/Yellow finish...much like
yesterday's Cup race. (Q'd 3rd - Finished 6th - had the 4th best
car...lol)

It wouldn't matter. They'd still wreck on the last laps. Remember,
the GWC came about because of not wanting to finish under caution, but
Nascar made the sensible rule about "one chance only." And when you
have a restart with 2 or 3 to go, under GWC, the pack will still
wreck. If they tried more than once, they'd be there another couple
hours.

OMG, no! Dontcha remember the debacle a few years ago in the truck race
where they kept trying a green-white-checker? I think it took them 5 tries
or something. After that, NASCAR implemented toe one-try rule, and I think
it's a good one (if you're gonna have a green-white-checker at all, that
is).

Or any other time it has been tried. But the fans have "spoken".

Good for you. We were off this weekend, and it looks as though I will be
mired in the Dark Continent too long to make it back home for our next race
next weekend.
