GOOD !

Why good? Does seeing people get hurt float your boat?

Paul, this is typical of the breed of fan that ESPN and televised
racing has brought out. They don't even know about anything other
than NASCAR and don't want to. They throw beer bottles on the track
when they don't get what they want. It is really sad sometimes.

That was Gordon fans doing the throwing the year before last. I am not
making excuses - it's not all Jeff Gordon fans.
Or... not any Jeff Gordon fans. It was Earnhardt fans throwing beer bottles
on the track in front of Gordon, and at his car after he beat Junior after
the restart.

NASCAR champ flips car, injures arm
Associated Press

TULSA, Okla. - Reigning NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Tony Stewart
injured his right arm after he flipped his car during a qualifying
race for the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals.

Stewart, a two-time Cup champion, complained of pain in his arm
after Friday night's race at the Tulsa Expo Raceway. He was examined
and treated at a local hospital. A spokesman for Stewart said X-rays
and a CT scan were both negative, but Stewart was fitted with a cast
until a more extensive evaluation can be made by his own doctors.

"I'm a little sore," Stewart said after leaving the hospital Friday
night. "The doctors were great and did a pretty thorough evaluation
of me. They didn't find anything broken, but just to be sure, they
fitted me with a cast that I'll wear until I meet with my doctors on
Monday. It looks a lot worse than it is."

He said the injury won't affect his upcoming test at Las Vegas Motor
Speedway or his plans to compete in the Rolex 24 Hours of Dayton and
Daytona Speed Weeks.

Stewart, a former U.S. Auto Club champion in Midgets, sprint cars
and Silver Crown cars, still races in several short track events
each year for fun.

Now this is pretty lame of you, Alan, and typical of the average press
report. Stewart has been racing there, along with Kahne all week. The
only time you decide to post anything about it
is when there is an injury. You know, the racing is the real news.
What about Kahne's good run last night? No, you dwell on the injuries
and post links to that instead of the racing. I now know that you are
truly pathetic. The racing has been going on since Wednesday, and you
post today. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are a vulture.

I'm gonna side with Alan on this one.... the racing is not the only
real news here. Any time a Cup driver does something off the track or
in a different series that results in an injury, the injury becomes a
story too. Just as it was when Nadeau injured himself go-carting or
Elliott injured himself in an accident in his yard. The reigning NC
Champ being hospitalized with an injury is a significant piece of news
related to this NG. Thankfully, in Tony's case the injury doesn't seem
to be significant enough to impact the upcoming season, however it does
contribute to the debate over the wisdom of these drivers taking risks
in other series..... I know if I were an owner or sponsor of their Cup
cars, I would definitely want my investment protected.

There ya go, that's the broader issue. I'm sure most remember
Dale Jr. getting second degree burns in a sports car during a Le
Mans Series practice session at the Sonoma road course in the
middle of the 2004 season. Martin Truex Jr. had to finish the New
Hampshire NASCAR race for him the following weekend.

Tony Stewart can't keep himself from driving Midgets, Sprint,
and Silver Crown cars at every opportunity, and Jeff Gordon likes
to go racing in European events.

And, it's not only while racing outside of NASCAR. Just last month,
Busch driver Ashton Lewis (#25) injured himself on an obstacle
course at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, SC. The USMC
is his sponsor.

It's difficult for the team owners to keep the drivers from doing
anything risky outside of NASCAR, especially when the sponsor
is involved, but it is a continuing and potentially disastrous
issue. I'm afraid a career ending injury to a very high profile
driver like Tony, Jeff, or Dale Jr. will force the owners or the
NASCAR sanctioning body to crackdown on the extra activities.

Gordon fans pelted Jeff with Pepsi bottles after a loss. I thought it was
funny but totally uncoool.

Ummmmm... Ok. Sure wish they had broadcast something like that on TV.
Would have been the talk of the town here at the Lake.

Dood - they even posted pictures of the Pepsi cans next to Jeffie. I
thought that was poetic justice. Doesn't matter though - the point I was
making is that the NASCAR fans do some pretty reprehensible things at the
races and it's not just fans of (or against) one driver. This time
PastaBoy got hurt and the vermin crawled out to applaud it; but it could
have been any driver and someone would have gotten a woody over it.

You been watching any of this horrible officiating at these post season NFL
games?

I am a Colts fan but Pittsburg sure did get screwed on that interception didn't
they?

All in all it turned out to be a good game --- except for the field goal attempt
by the Colts that ended up in the stands on the SIDELINE!!!! The only way he
could have missed the goal posts any more is if he had kicked it backwards!

It must be a terrible feeling to be the cause of your team losing.
