I remember Sterling Marlin complaining that NASCAR has to do something
about
the plate races a year or two before Dale bought the farm. Will they
listen
this time?

I like Tony, but it's ironic that Tony was doing the same shit Earnhardt was
doing when he bought it - i.e., blocking to preserve the win for his
comrade. Tony should've raced for the win and then he wouldn't be
bitching - he's damn lucky to have not gotten turned into the wall today, by
Jr. no less. Let's hope the same situation doesn't happen next Sunday.

You'd think they'd learn not to block. Remember Rusty tried to block
Earnhardt? Not good. Davey blocked DW at Pocono one day. I saw that
one. Scary looking. Dirt and sheet metal flying everywhere.

When somebody else is faster than you are, it's not a good idea to
pull down in front of them.

If wasn't dangerous everybody would be doing it and nobody would be
watching. "There are only three real sports in the world: bull

But it was ok that Sr ran Marlin clear into the grass(Sterling had his nose
to the inside of DE up to almost the door, and DE came down to block) just
prior to entering turn one, on a previous lap, right?

perhaps he should be more careful then, all that bump drafting and
blocking he did in order to help Denny out sure was dangerous... and
while he's at it, he should quite being such a hypocrite.

Thank you!

I've been saying that since it happened.

If you look at it frame by frame you can see that is exactly what
happened. SM never touched Dale.

the only thing that will stop racing at the restrictor plate
tracks is for the drivers to refuse to get in their cars and
race, which i hope they will grow balls and do, sooner than
later...

They tried that a long time ago. Didn't work. There are plenty of people
out there willing to risk running 500 miles at a plate track and NASCAR
wouldn't hesitate to put those people in a car if the regulars walked out.
Yup, the walkout at Talladega was a complete failure. The race went on, the
drivers came back, and NASCAR has been firmly in charge ever since. They
made it plain to the walkouts that there were a lot of drivers out there,
waiting for a car/seat to open up....So much for walkouts, and so much for
the driver's union they tried to start around the same time. Poor old
Richard Petty, he was in on that, and was out of the sport for a while when
NASCAR kicked Chrysler out by banning the Hemi. I still have photos of his
and Cotton Owens' drag racing cars from that time period their 'car make'
was banned from the sport.
