He'll move up in points once the TuRDs (Toyota Racing Division) move on
in.
They're clearly dominanting trucks right now. Their trucks all finish in
the top-15 each week, unless they're involved in a wreck.

I suspect you are correct in that Toyota will quickly master this game and
establish a pretty dominant role. It may take a couple of years but I think
they'll do it.

If he could only drive as good as he talks he would run in the top

I was looking forward to this season so I could see Mickey run in the
back AGAIN.

I don't know what you have against beloved drivers, but you do know he is a
Daytona winner, right? He has also won his share of Busch races, and in
Cup has about 40 top 5 finishes. As such, I wouldn't exactly call him a
field filler.

Interesting side note - the guy is an avid runner and has been in the Boston
Marathon and Tampa Marathon.

Hey you might not like him but he is still a good driver that goes
out to race every week in more than one division. That is not just
luck. Even if you do not like him, he is a good businessman.

It's really kind of hard to consider Michael Waltrip a good driver.
His record just doesn't bear that statement out.

4 cup victories, 38 top 5's, and 122 top 10's. He doesn't suck.

If there were four classes of drivers: great, good, field filler, and no
business being on the track; I would put him in good, and not field
filler.

I suspect lots of folks might leave Dodge for Toyota. Just based on how
rare Dodge wins are.

It's really kind of hard to consider Michael Waltrip a good driver. His
record just doesn't bear that statement out. Racing in the minor league
divisions isn't much of a statement of a driver's ability either.
Actually
some might suggest quite the opposite. He may well be a good businessman
(that's unproven at this point), but racing is about driving cars, not
business acumen.

and he must be a better driver then you are! as he is DRIVING in NC
AND you are not!

That's the point - when compared to the average joe, he's a better driver,
but when compared to other competitors, he's not a great driver. What does
it matter if he's a better driver than me? I don't race him on weekends.
then don't insult him for doing what most of us would love to do.

He is better than some, and not as successful as others. OTOH, how many
of today's drivers have not won a Daytona 500? I bet they would give their
eye tooth to do so.

One more thought.......When you get to drive a Nextel cup car on a
regular basis you have to be a good driver - you don't just get a pass
to drive in the series. It is an accomplishment just to get into the
series.........think about all of the drivers throughout the country
that would love to just have a shot at being in the series

It's no insult - it's a matter of statistics. His record is public.
Re-define it all you'd like, but the numbers are the numbers.
