to drive in the series. It is an accomplishment just to get into the
series.........think about all of the drivers throughout the country
that would love to just have a shot at being in the series

Mike Wallace, Todd Bodine, and Wally Dallenbach on line one.

Spot labor. Cope should park his rattle-trap. Somehow Wally is growing on
me in the booth, as long as he doesn't scream boogity.

If he could only drive as good as he talks he would run in the top

I was looking forward to this season so I could see Mickey run in the

I don't know what you have against beloved drivers, but you do know he is
a Daytona winner, right?
So is Derrike Cope. Winning the D500 may carry a lot of notoriety, but it's
not the measure of a good driver any more.

Agreed, but there is the issue of having contacts. I am sure there are
plenty of dirt track drivers that might have done well had it not been for
the lack of a way into the upper echelons of NA$Cball. For instance,
even if King Richard saw the most amazing driver at a NA$CAR friday night
dirt track; no way he displaces his son to let the new found kid drive.

Against my better judgement; I am going to say Todd Bodine was always in
crappy rides. The time he was in Tony Stewart's car; he climbed through
the field without a problem. Apparently top notch cars are profoundly
different than field-filler cars.

The Daytona 500 is the World Series of NASCAR. IMHO, it is a measure of a
good driver. Well, good at plate tracks, at least. Each and every
driver will tell you they want the D500 trophy. If it's a big deal to them,
it is to the fans as well.

Now Mike, you can't say they are not excellent drivers.... may not be on par
with those they were driving against, but put them up against your average
"talented" driver and watch them shine... Prime example is Kenny
Schrader....doesn't shine amongst the Cup guys but goes around the country
whipping the shit out of the best of the rest....

It's more a test of the gear than the driver.

Because he has been around motorsports for his whole life and is intelligent
and articulate?

DW has 3 championships and 83 career wins. I'd much rather listen to Wally.
He's more professional.
