He finished 18th. Crappy season for him, for now...

Actually Jr and Truex pitted on lap 279 and the caution flew on lap 283 so
they were already down a lap before the caution flew and where they were on
pit road had nothing to do with it. Victims of timing just like Kurt was
last week at Texas. It's one of the hazards of green flag pit stops.

I didn't explain it as well - but since green flag pit stops had
started, everyone pitting would have been a lap down until all were
cycled through, when the leaders would once again be the leaders,
etc. It was just bad luck that a few cars had already pitted when the
caution came out.
