Would Daytona have impounded his only car?

Now that is an interesting question... do the drivers have the ability to
deny their car for the museum? Especially in the instance that they have
only one car?

Not sure about it if it's his only car, but you always hear the
Daytona winner say they wish they had THAT car when they get
toTalladega. I don't think they have a choice, but in that extreme
case, maybe they'd make an exception.

he would of lost the car he has no choice in the matter but Nascar also pays
a nice fee to the winner for the car so he would be able to buy 2 or 3 more
lol

When they started that (on display for the year) they announced a $100k
rental they pay. Don't know if it's gone up over the years, but I don't
think that a good cup car can be bought for that (I think a good plate
motor goes for more than that too).

The winner (JJ48) got $1,5M yesterday. If it had been Kurt S. he
could buy and build a few new cars. I wouldn't worry about the winners.

Yes, he has no choice. And I doubt that was his only car. He's planning on
running as much as he can this year (as in years past) and you don't just
soup up a short track or intermediate car in order to race it at the plate
tracks, they're "special". I imagine he has at least one other car in the
stable for the other tracks on the circuit.

That said, the winner got 1.5 million, roughly. Seeing as how Kirk is the
only person on that team (full time) he wouldn't have to split the winnings
with his owner, meaning he could've bought another car or several had he
won. You figure he's an NC resident, meaning about 40% in taxes (33.5
Fed/6.5 NC) so I imagine $900,000 would've been plenty to buy another $50k
car or two, with money left over for some new engines too, some tires (lol)
and maybe even a part-time pit crew.

However if he's running a business and he's an employee he likely could
expense out the winnings and put the rest of it back into 'the company'.
I'd bet he has some debt that might absorb much of it from past races. As
it is the $275,000 he won will be/was spent on just getting to Daytona.

He's like a guy that runs for public office every chance he gets but falls
short of winning. A lot of debt and not much to show for it...
