Default When was Harvick parked? - 02-24-2006 , 09:32 PM

Remember the truck race (Martinsville, I think) where he was roughed
up, then he said something like "I'm gonna get that guy", and then he
did it? I don't remember if he was penalized during the truck race,
but he was banned from the cup race the next day.

I guess the moral was if you're gonna get that guy, don't advertise.

Anybody remember when it happened?

I could be wrong... it happens quite a bit, but I seem to think this was
the 2002 CTS bristol race.

Found this on Jayski

Harvick Fined: NASCAR officials announced that driver Kevin Harvick has
been fined $35,000 and his probation has been extended through the
remainder of the year for his actions this past weekend at Martinsville
Speedway. NASCAR also put Harvick on notice during this probationary
period that if there are any actions, in NASCAR's opinion, that are
deemed detrimental to the sport or disruptive to the orderly conduct of
an event, he will be suspended indefinitely. Harvick, already on
probation following an incident March 23 during the BGN race at Bristol,
was initially "parked" by NASCAR officials after an on-track incident
with Coy Gibbs during Saturday's Truck Series race. The penalty was then
extended to include Sunday's Virginia 500 NASCAR Winston Cup event.
Following further review of the incident by NASCAR officials, a fine was
levied and Harvick's probation, originally scheduled to conclude Aug.
28, was extended through the end of the calendar year to Tuesday, Dec.

He was parked for the 2002 spring Martinsville race.

Yes, that is the moral. If he had kept his mouth shut and been clever about
it, nothing would have been done. If he had kept his mouth shut and been
obvious about it, he would have been penalized a stop and go or a lap for
rough driving and had to endure a post-race finger wagging. Advertising
your intent to break the rules to the detriment of everyone's safety is not
something that they will let slide.

Similar for who was it, Kurt Bush I think that wanted a caution, said so,
and caused it. If he had kept his mout shut, nothing would have been done.

Slight culture shift of brashness among this generation of drivers vs the
craftiness of years gone by...

Didn't he spin Robby Gordon to get that caution? Seems like it was a
night race, maybe Charlotte or Daytona?
