Default Who's Not Afraid Of Isabel? - 09-15-2003 , 07:45 AM

My cousins that live in Iowa don't want to travel to Dover this weekend due to
the storm potential....so they have two tickets for the WC race. Said they
would take a reasonable offer. (Face is $85 each). I said I would post this,
but won't hold my breath. Thanks.

"Subject to change at any time." That's the operating phrase here. When
was the last time they were accurate with their forecasts?

While I wouldn't mind seeing a hurricane, I'd rather not have it be the
equivalent of a 900-lb gorilla like they've been saying that Isabel is going
to be. The last time one came close, I had to cancel a day of school and
watched the local streams go way, way over their banks. Unfortunately, a
kid in a neighborhood that I was delivering pizzas to on a job that I held
at the time got killed when the ditch she was swimming in turned out to be
the Colorado spilling into a drain pipe. You never want to hear about
things like that again.

It's a sure bet that the race will be delayed until November. Anyone up for
a game of pumpkin-chunking?

Even if it goes through on Friday, who knows if Dover or anyplace in the
area will have power.
