I had a remote starter installed in my 2005 2.5. I'm sure the engine size
doesn't matter much, but the things to know are that you will need to
provide a key for the remote to work. Since the ignition key is a smart key
which has a chip in the head, the remote starter will also need to have a
key in order to do its work. A new key is about $25.00 and to program it is
$75.00, and you have to bring all your other keys with you, since it keeps
count of how many keys there are for this car. This is usually done at the
dealer, but sometimes the Remote Starter Co will go to the dealer as they
did in my case.
I had my starter installed by a private company (it was the same one the
dealer used, I managed to get the name), and what I did was have them use
the factory remote to start the car as well as a separate remote made by
viper. In order to do it this way I need to hit the remote start button on
the viper 3 times or the door lock button on the factory remote 3 times to
start the car. very happy
About $450.00 altogether.

Has anyone ever had a remote starter installed on a 2005 Altima 3.5? Did
you do it yourself or go somewhere like Best Buy or Circuit
City? Can you recommend a particular brand, or advise on one to pass on?
Also anything else I should be aware of.
Any help is appreciated. |
