I have a 1995 nissan altima. What happens is it starts up an runs fine for
about 5 secs and then rough idles up an down an dies out. Ive done
everything. new mass air flow, new spark plugs, new distubtor an cap, new
oxygen sensor, new coolant sensor and still does the same thing. has

I washed the engine. A similar problem appeared as if the a bad fuel
pump. As with yours it would run for a moment then stop. If I kept
ether into the throttle body it would run. Turned out to be a short.
The boot of the oil pressure sensor plug wasn't fastening properly and
had gotten some contamination when I washed the engine. I flushed it
out with starting ether (drys better than alchol but is dangerous).
Problem went away.

Opps, sorry, not awake yet - this was my S-10 not my Altima that had
the short.
